CEGACT hosts a large number of professional development workshops, in addition to mini conferences, weekend conferences and national conferences on a wide variety of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subjects. These workshops provide a significant opportunity for educators to develop new ICT skills, share ICT expertise and discover what is happening in ICT in schools and institutions.
Once a term CEGACT organises an evening presentation for the benefits of members and educators on an innovative topic relating to educational information technology. Topics have included: Interactivity on the web at Questcon; Art and ICT at the War Memorial; Broadband Technology Project at ACTNEW; and Teachers' First National Computer Project.
Each year CEGACT presents a financial award to an ACT Computer Educator of the Year. In addition CEGACT allocates money to subsidise members attendance at computer conferences here in the ACT and interstate.
CEGACT produces a regular newsletter for members with articles contributed by members and experts in IT. Over recent years the rapid development of ICT has had an increasing impact on learning (learning technologies) and educational administration systems.
A current on-going project of CEGACT is the area of IT Competencies for Students and the Future Directions of IT in schools. CEGACT has a number of items of hardware that are available to CEGACT members in schools for borrowing, up to a term. The most popular loan is associated with the Computer in a Classroom project, now in it's 29th term.
