The draft papers presented for discussion on
this website represent a
milestone but not the endpoint of a process which began in earnest when
stakeholders at the 1998 Australian Computer Education Conference (ACEC 98)
raised questions and issues, as a response to the varied conditions and
definitions of teacher competence being built by some state systems.
- 1997 ACCE Board identified need for a statement
on Teacher IT Competencies (later termed Teacher Learning Technology
Competencies)
- 1997 ACCE commissioned background research
to collate existing activity and materials from Australian States and
document International materials
- July 1998 - results presented to ACCE
Board meeting in Adelaide which was also attended by State CEG Presidents
attending ACEC 98. A workshop was designed to gather preliminary input from
stakeholders about issues and to inform further ACCE activity.
- ACEC 98 (July) - ACCE hosted a
workshop attended by over 80 delegates where presentations were made by
representatives of Tasmanian, Victorian and Queensland State systems who at
the time had active programs in the area of teacher learning technology
competencies. The presentations were
followed by small group discussions. Outcomes of this workshop were published in Australian Educational Computing
Volume 13, No 2
